Early concepts for the characters and creatures designs

The animation is about a story happening in a nomadic village. Starting off with Tenzi herding cattle and yaks, he saw a particular calf walking towards him and it triggered his memories. He remembered being dragged by his friend to see a group of villagers capturing and killing a mysterious creature. He got scared and ran away from the village after seeing the bloody scene. He stopped and cried in the mountains, mourning for the death of the creature, not noticing there was a shabby shrine near him. With the sky getting darker with an ominous omen, the boy figured he should head back to the village. After he arrived, there was no one there. The village was shrouded in silence. He looked into one of the tents, and only found three yaks inside, somehow looking like three of the villagers. The villagers were punished by the divines for killing and torturing beings of the mountains, therefore turning into animals. And for the rest of the boy’s life will be herding these yaks and worshiping the mountains.

48h Animation Jam

“Untitled Dream”

“Life after Death”

“LOUD”

“Space”

I participated in an Animation jam where a group of 5 people complete a short under the assigned theme “Dream” in 48 hours.

The story is about a false awakening of a girl in the morning, and portray a surreal imagery happening in her head. It is a more experimental and free approach for my animating experience.

I participated in an Animation jam where a group of 3 people complete a short under the assigned theme “Life after Death” in 48 hours.

The story is about a Frankenstein realizing all his body parts come from different kinds of atrocious people, but when he finds a heart of kindness, everything would turn out fine, no matter how you look on the outside.

Animation jam where I led a group of 4 complete a short under the assigned theme “Loud”. I was in charge of the character design, all the key frames, and some of the in-betweens.

The story is about a middle school girl got overwhelmed at school but still need to face the harsh criticism at home, which breaks her inside. She cannot find peace and wants to shout but she still repressed them at last, just as always.

Animation jam where I led a group of 5 complete a short under the assigned theme “Space”. I was in charge of the storyboard, character design, background drawing all the key frames, and some of the in-betweens.

The story is about an office lady in a cubicle being tired of her tedious job. She falls asleep and enters a white space where she sees her child self joyfully pressing the keyboard, which for her has lost its meaning of happiness and became an object of dullness. She wakes up and decides she should always remember.
